Charles Terence (Terry) Dillon

Terry was born in 1942 and when he was about three months old May returned to the workforce. May and Terry were living with Aunty (Esther Anderson) in Argo Street and Charley had returned to military service, first to Queensland near Cairns and then New Guinea. Terry was looked after by aunty (his godmother) while May worked across the road at Aushawl.

Kevin Marshall Dillon

In 1946 Kevin arrived amid great uproar. Charles, May & Terry were still with Aunty at Argo Street. Kevin’s arrival was early and fast. Charley got one of the neighbours to go for a taxi & he headed over to the Alfred hospital which was a very short walk across Fawkner Park. He rushed in, got a nurse to accompany him back to the house. Meanwhile a taxi had arrived & May was bundled in and the nurse’s absence was noticed. Kevin was born in the taxi.

Bryan John Dillon & Pauline Andrea Laws (nee Dillon)

The twins, Bryan & Pauline, were born in Richmond in 1947. Charles & May had moved to Richmond within a few weeks of Kevin’s arrival. Was the fuss too much??? Who knows but 11 months after Kevin the twins arrive (three in under a year - good one Charley & May). Bryan is mentioned first in dispatches as he arrived 10 minutes before Pauline.

Mark Vincent Dillon

Three in 11 months must have been too much because there was a lull in births. The family moved from Richmond to the family home in Preston. After settling in to Preston the family holidayed at the beach at Chelsea in easter of 1952. January 53 saw the arrival of Mark. Charley & May, by now, were used to new events and everything went swimmingly.

Kathleen Margaret (Kath) Dillon

Another break of a few years and May thought her child-rearing days were over. (Who told you that mum?). In 1957 May is now 46 and these things are not supposed to happen anymore, are they. Wrong! Because Kathy was born that year.
